In 2025, we will invest in emission-free mobility and rely on electric lorries for heavy goods transport. In a pilot project, we are deploying electric lorries on plannable long-distance routes. One of the biggest challenges remains the charging infrastructure. We use photovoltaic systems on our buildings for this purpose, and two charging stations have been set up at the Isernhagen site, where an electric lorry can be charged in around 2.5 hours.
As a complete switch to electromobility takes time, we combine the electric drive with the biofuel HVO100. This flexible strategy enables an immediate reduction in CO₂ while providing transport flexibility at the same time.
New EU regulations and the Building Electromobility Infrastructure Act will create additional incentives from 2025. A reduced lorry toll for zero-emission vehicles will increase the motivation to switch. In the long term, we are dependent on close cooperation with our customers, who will also have to take more responsibility for their carbon footprint as part of the new CSRD sustainability directive.
